Why do manufactures offer the USA such ugly choices for car seats?

When I was looking for car seats I clicked on the European tab on several websites that sold car seats and was blown away at how awesome the car seat where. The ones they are selling in the usa are so drab. The Britax is a good car seat but it looks like it just walked out of the early 90's.
