I'm not sure if this would work, but, depending upon the complexity of the relationships within the band (for example, if the b player & guitarist have been best friends for 10 years), you might try raising this issue with your other bandmates, then, as a team, present him with a united front: you're not trying to mutiny, but want him to know that the rest of you want to let the music breathe a little. If he's willing to share control at all, he should be open to the idea of his bandmates adding a little of 'themselves' to the music, so that instead of his songs sounding like the way he would play all of the instruments, his songs can sound like they're played by a true band of individuals.
