Will the United States military be in deep trouble over the innocent people killed?

While I understand what the military is trying to accomplish in Afghanistan, I think that mistakes that kill civilians need to be investigated and errors corrected so these kinds of incidents are not repeated, it's not OK to call it collateral damage and then forget about it, those are people, families.
