What skills should a kid have by the time they're 18, and when should they learn them?

Instead of doing all that you could protect your child from the evil known as modern society...teach him how to peel a mango, find ripe watermelon, play with (rescued)puppies, climb a tree, comprehend that other people and non-human animals can feel pain too, stuff like that.
